Soldier overlooking a city at dusk

Short synopsis

BATTLE BORN follows decorated Special Forces soldier SGT. Travis Griffey from the battlefields of Afghanistan to the violent underworld of Mexico's Jalisco cartel.

After a devastating combat loss, Griffey and his brothers-in-arms return home struggling to find their place in civilian life. Haunted by PTSD and watching his world collapse, he accepts an offer from aging cartel patriarch Juan Rivas: use his skills, provide for his family, regain the purpose war took from him. As the missions escalate, Griffey becomes what he once fought against.

His past collides with his present when former brother-in-arms Ryan Jones — now a U.S. Senator and CIA operative — is sent to hunt him down. Their confrontation forces fractured loyalties and buried betrayals to the surface, in a story about brotherhood, consequence, and whether the wars soldiers carry home ever truly end.

Proven genre demand

Built for suspense

A dual-timeline structure creates mystery and momentum as brothers-in-arms move toward opposite sides of a kill order.

Clear market position

Sicario meets Triple Frontier: grounded, high-stakes, morally loaded action.

*No theatrical revenue is assumed in the conservative case. The moderate case models a limited four-wall Nevada release only. We do not promise theatrical. A competitive SVOD license fee is the single most aggressive assumption in this model; comparable independent action films have secured meaningful streaming acquisitions, but this outcome is not guaranteed and should not be treated as contracted revenue.

Illustrative investor outcomes

Scenario A · Conservative

0.86×

$85,556 per $100,000 position

  • Net receipts to production$1,325,000

  • Surplus available for 50/50 split$0

Investors recover 86% of capital. Producers receive nothing.

Scenario B · Moderate

$172,361 per $100,000 position

  • Net receipts to production$3,800,000
  • Nevada tax credit (net of sale)$245,000

  • 120% recoupment to investors$2,160,000
  • Surplus after recoupment$1,885,000
  • Investor share of surplus (50%)$942,500
  • Total to investors$3,102,500

Waterfall: 120% recoupment, then 50/50.

The two numbers that matter

$1,585,000Net receipts required for investor capital returned in full (1.0×)
$1,945,000Net receipts required to clear the 120% preferred hurdle
50 / 50Every dollar of net receipts above $1,945,000 splits between investors and the production entity

All figures are producer's net receipts, already net of distributor fees and expenses. The Nevada transferable credit is modeled at a conservative sale price of ~$0.90 per dollar. No return is guaranteed; investors may lose some or all of their capital.
